DATEX's experience in monitoring and evaluation demonstrates that performance information plays a critical role in planning and management decision making, both at the activity and program level. Consequently, the development and on-going use of a performance monitoring and evaluation system is essential to managing for results. An effective project monitoring and evaluation system requires frequent and effective communication, a comprehensive data gathering effort, and regular, first hand interaction with project personnel and related institutions. DATEX employs a proven approach that has been used in a number of our evaluation efforts.

As a part of each and every project DATEX manages, DATEX sets benchmarks and milestones that link the intermediate results to the strategic objectives (insert additional language).

DATEX ‘s monitoring and evaluation work falls within two broad categories:

• Projects for which we are asked to provide one specific evaluation report at either the mid-term or the end of a project to meet USAID documentation requirements

• Projects for which we implement a long-term program of monitoring and evaluation to provide on-going feedback to the project
