Egypt Health Mother/Healthy Child Project - USAID/Cairo

Datex fielded a seven person team of maternal and child health, and public health experts to develop the project paper for this ten year project. DATEX worked to continue USAID/Cairo Mission's activities in child survival, maternal health, family planning, and cost recovery by designing the project to enhance resource productivity and quality of life in the areas of child and maternal health.

The project design aimed to upgrade the competence of different types of principal health care providers: mothers, private practitioners, and government health-provided services. There was a substantial information, education and communication component to the project. Particular effort was made to implement project activities at the district level, involving to a great extent local community groups and PVOs, to best serve the range of health care needs throughout Egypt.
