DATEX has considerable experience in all aspects of grant management from conducting pre and post award audits to developing disbursement schedules and close outs. Since 1986, DATEX has completed a number of grants related assignments including direct implementation of grants management programs, evaluation of grant-funded projects, and other grants-related activities.
DATEX's experience with grants programs has included both the programmatic and the administrative aspects of grant management. Some of the major programmatic activities included:
- establishing eligibility criteria (based on
strategic objectives and desired results)
- designing application review and approval processes with
implementation partners
- evaluating grant applications submitted by prospective subgrantees
- assisting subgrantees establish performance monitoring systems
and performance monitoring plans to measure field-level impact
and results of disbursed subgrants
- design and implementation of program-wide monitoring and
evaluation system by strategic objective
- designing and conducting organizational capacity assessments and follow-on training and technical assistance
- assisting grantees in program design/re-design
- preparing Terms of Reference and supervising technical consultants
where required for capacity building or programmatic assistance
- establishing workplans and disbursement schedules
- reviewing grantee progress reports, and reconciling grantee
progress reports against workplans.
Some of the major elements of administrative grants management
included:
- administrative record-keeping for portfolio
of grants
- preparation of grantee budgets
- preparing and implementing pre-award audits and post-award compliance audits
- managing bank accounts (book-keeping, account reconciliation,
transfers, etc)
- correlating grantees' workplans with funds disbursement schedules
- reconciling grantee financial reports.
