Environment and Urban Programs (EUP) IQC: USAID/G/ENV
The Environment and Urban Programs (EUP) IQC was created in response to USAID Missions' and Bureaus' expressed needs in the area of environment and urban programming. DATEX is the prime contractor on the EUP IQC which addresses the Global Bureau's Environment Center strategic objective of Sustainable Cities. Activities emphasized: improved understanding and development of urbanization processes in order to make our cities more livable; reduced urban and industrial pollution; and improved environmental infrastructures. DATEX has performed task orders in Egypt, Madagascar, and Washington D.C. (with extensive periodic travel worldwide).
Examples of IQC Task Orders
Under the IQC DATEX was awarded Management of Secondary Cities Treated Water/Wastewater and Effluent Reuse. DATEX provided professional services in two stages to develop effluent re-use plans at Nuweiba, Aswan and Luxor to avoid pollution, especially at the Gulf of Aquaba, by nutrients and other pollutants contained in the effluent.
Under the IQC DATEX was awarded the Design of USAID/Madagascar Result Package No. 2: National Level Enabling Conditions for Strategic Objective Number Three. DATEX provided assistance to USAID/Madagascar to design Results Package #2 (RP2), National Level Enabling Conditions, in support of Madagascar's strategic objective to conserve biologically diverse ecosystems in priority conservation zones. RP2 combines three target intervention areas: 1) mobilizing domestic financial mechanisms; 2) operationalizing environmental policies and assessment procedures; and 3) effective communication and information integrated into decision making. DATEX developed an effective strategy across each of the three intervention areas.
