Development Strategies for Fragile Lands (DESFIL): USAID/G/ENV

A DATEX gender research/natural resource management (NRM) development specialist provided full-time technical assistance and conducted research activities as a member of the core DESFIL team. This individual developed guidelines for a series of technical reports emanating from the DESFIL project; several official technical reports related to gender and NRM /biodiversity; a series of other technical papers and technical and evaluation reports; and proposals for other initiatives in gender and NRM as an outgrowth of DESFIL. This specialist also planned and led a series of training sessions and workshops and developed and presented a panel entitled "Highlighting and Reporting on Gender for USAID Environmental Projects."

The DESFIL project provides analytical and technical assistance to improve fragile lands management worldwide, with an emphasis in Latin America. The project supported international strategies for sustainable use of fragile lands and the implementation of those strategies.
