Assessment of USAID Assistance to the Carribean: USAID/RDO/C
DATEX performed a comprehensive assessment of USAID's commitment to the Caribbean from 1976 to 1995. This assessment is being used to assist USAID in determining the overall impact of assistance provided through the USAID Regional Development Office for the Caribbean (RDO/C) in the wake of mission closings. USAID's primary strategic objectives aimed to foster economic cooperation and regionalism, as well as to meet urgent, short-term needs which threatened the region's stability. DATEX worked to identify the main program areas and the levels of resources devoted to these; describe conditions and changes in the region including regional institutions and economic, social, political and environmental conditions; and relate USAID assistance to these conditions and changes. DATEX's assessment focused primarily on the sectors of training, health/population, infrastructure, agriculture, private enterprise, democracy, and law and justice.
