Remodernization of Bureau of Export Administrations BXA Financial Managerial Accounting Support System: US Department of Commerce
DATEX assessed the BXA's current mechanism for accounting, management control and financial reporting, and designed an integrated approach consolidating all of these requirements into a single database and set of procedures. This included paper flow (documents, invoices, travel, voucher, etc.), authorization hierarchy, document and data retention; sources (funds), use of funds, tracking by month/quarter/annual status and variance reports; tailored-report generation capability; paperwork resulting from contracts and their management from proposal to procurement to payment; interagency fund transfers and reporting requirements; expedited forms of obtaining services such as blanket purchase orders; documenting and tracking vendor payments; filing systems and written procedures; and tracking and reporting credit card transactions. DATEX also provided assistance in converting current operations to the new system and adding approximately 3 years of historical documents and data to the new system.
